[Awareness of the visitor came prior to the small knock on thedoor alerting Zero to the arrival of the pureblood. Standing in the kitchen folding a load of laundry that he'd just pulled from the dryer, he finished folding the washcloth he had in his hand and placed it on top of the rest of the one's he'd already folded before heading to the door. With a twist of his wrist on the doorknob, he pulled the door open to admit the visitor without acknowledging his existance. Moving back into the kitchen, he pulled another washcloth from the basket without even looking at Kaname.]

[To say he was irritated was an understatement, but he'd let the vampire visit for Yuuki. He wouldn't like it, found the pureblood's holier than thou attitude grating and irritating. As if his visiting was something special that would help Yuuki more than the many hours Zero had spent taking care of her the last few days.]

[Because with Zero's luck, a five minute visit with Kaname probably would help her more than all the labor and sweat Zero had done to help bring down her fever and bring her back to them in the last few days.]

[It was easy to guess who opened the door. He would have opened his mouth to harshly reprimand Zero, but he was completely drained from the events that occurred that evening.]

...I shan't stay very long, Kiryuu-kun. There is no need for such behavior.

[He tapped his finger on the door frame twice, getting a better "look" of the room and walked carefully to Yuuki's door.]

[Of course he wasn't. Which only frustrated Zero more. For someone who claimed that Yuuki was the most important thing to him, he didn't do a very good job of taking care of showing it at times like this.]

I'm doing laundry. Did you expect me to entertain you? You're not here for me. I wouldn't let you in if you were.

[Folding another washcloth, Zero reached for another one, only to find a cat resting among the clothes. Picking up the gray kitten, it gave a soft meow as he tossed him onto the floor before going back to his laundry.]

I'm sure you have so many more important things to do today.

[He didn't understand it. If she was the most important person to Kaname, why would he avoid her and spend such minimal time with her when she was this ill?]

[There was a reason behind his avoiding her.]

[It was because if he stayed too long by her side, he would feel the need to feed on her. He had been longing for her for 10 long years... The temptation was simply too much to bear.]

[Even more so when he is injured.]

[Nevertheless, the kitten mewling in protest made him smile.]

Appreciate that the kitten can still stand to be around you, Kiryuu... It won't be that way for much longer.

[He kept his back to Zero the entire time he spoke, and knocked on Yuuki's door.]

Yuuki..?

[The light knock on her door, spooked Yuuki. Jumping a little she turned tiredly toward the enterance to her room.

That voice...]

Kaname-senpai...

[She was happy that he had come to visit her. Also embarrassed however, for what happened the other night. She was still feverish, and felt sick. She was just grateful that...at the moment he hadn't caught her within the throes of a nightmare.]

C-Come in...

[Attempting to push up into a sitting position the cloth on her forehead fell as she dizzily paused a moment, waiting for the virago to fade. She needed to shake this off for Kaname. There wasn't any reason to worry him...]

[He opened the door carefully to her room. Tapping the door frame once more to get an idea of what the room "looked" like, he smiled.]

Lie down, Yuuki... I don't want your fever to get any worse.

[He closed the door behind him, not really sure if the room was lighted or not, he kept his eyes closed for now and carefully made his way to her.]

Ah...I...I thought to welcome Kaname...senpai..

[But she obediently followed direction though, head meeting her pillow as she laid back down. She was exhausted and not about to argue. This reminded her so much of the few times she had become sick as a child, with concerned visits from Kaname.

Only this time the illness was drastically different. Eyes falling a little she glanced off to the side. The one person she wanted to trouble least of all with this...stood before her bed. Voice a little strained and dry she sounded tired.]

"I...I...to Kaname-senpai...I..wanted to...to apologize..."

[He turned his head to the sound of her voice, keeping his eyes closed the entire time. Finally, he knelt down beside her, gently placing a hand on her head.]

There is no need to apologize, Yuuki... It wasn't your fault.

[And truly, it wasn't. He suspected Rido's appearance in the City made her illness even worse. Even as a child, Yuuki had very good senses, so it wouldn't be surprising if she felt his presence.]

When you collapsed in my arms that night... I really thought...

I thought my heart would stop.

The gentle caress of his hand stilled her, even though she felt extra warmth spread to her cheeks. She was probably sweaty and clammy and being in this condition was embarrassing. His tender words though...

Looking back to him, her hand gently moved his to her cheek and she closed her eyes against his palm. Here with him like this she felt so safe and secure. For this person to express to her such tender caring.

"Kaname..." Eyes opening, they creased. It was that gentle kindness he showered her with that confused her the most. Why... Thinking about it caused her head to hurt worse, but she attempted to push it aside. "You always--"

But she paused, sensing something felt off. Brows knitting, she released his hand. Moving forward she gently, very carefully, brushed a hand across his face, as though moving his hair aside.

"Why...have you yet to look at me with your eyes?"

Could he lie to her? Could he say anything to keep her from worrying?

He stroked her hair gently, bowing his head to touch his forehead with hers. "There is a curse to day, Yuuki."

At the very least, he can take away her fever before she starts fidgeting over him.

A curse...

Lightly tucking her head in she flushed as he gently rested his forehead to hers. The moment he did so, it felt as though a weight had been lifted from her. The migraine that had plagued her for so long now faded to a dull ache that lingered in the the back of her mind, the warmth melting from her cheeks.

He's...taking away the fever....

Although she was tired and not up to her regular strength, she felt better than she had in days. Even while cursed...he was concerned over her..

"And you are blind...?"

He hushed her tenderly as his finished his work. She always did have good senses. He sighed, quietly satisfied that at least some of her pains have eased. However, he was still injured, and using his powers, which are considerably weaker in the City, may have cost him more than he originally thought.

He might have to take up Solomon's offer for fresh blood sooner or later if this keeps up.

Kaname raised his head, smiling at her sadly as he opened his eyes to reveal the white irises he received in what he believes, is punishment for witnessing a holy messenger's soul.

The white was a shock to her. His beautiful, nearly crimson eyes had vanished. They were so different from the tender gaze she was accustomed to. The curses were frustrating. Whenever she saw him affected by one, she wished it was possible for her to strip it from him herself. She wanted to help this man, who had done so much for her ever since the very start of her memories.

Reaching out, she once more gently brushed the side of his cheek.

"And yet even while blind...you came to visit me."

She didn't take Kaname for weak, but in such a complicated city she could only imagine how difficult it had been for him to get to her. "You...for my sake, you didn't have to go so far for me."

He leaned into her palm, placing a hand on top of her own. The warmth of her fingers took away any darkness that danced in his mind. To have the burden of living forever would be easier if she were beside him.

"Yuuki..." he whispered, tenderly as he closed his eyes once more, "There is nothing, in our world, nor in this one, that I would not do for you."

Gentle fingers brushed her bangs away from her face. How he would even manage to do such a task while blind was unbelievable, even for him.

"Go to sleep, Yuuki..." he cooed, "No dreams can haunt you this night."

Brows knitting she would never understand how such kind...sincere words could be gently spoken to her. How this man could choose to say them to her above anyone else.

Eye's fluttering closed against his touch she sighed contentedly. For the first time since the masquerade she felt so much better. Gently latching onto his sleeve, much as she had as a child, she looked back up to him gently.

"Will you stay with me until I fall back asleep...?"

With him there, it really did feel like right now those upsetting nightmares were chased away.

It was a request that touched his heart... If he could help it, he would stay by her side all night, but the temptation her blood brings him was almost unbearable... More so now that he was injured by a holy being.

Nonetheless, he settled down on the floor beside her bed, gently holding the hand that was tugging his sleeve.

A well-disposed hum escaped his lips as he quieted her fears. The spell their mother placed oh her would soon be broken but for now, even for just this one night, he hoped the nightmares of their repulsive curse would leave them be.
