the wedding

the wedding day dawned early as the ceremony was scheduled for 11 am.

Bryant ran out the door of the hotel to get ice for the champagne and I madly pressed the dress for the last time. We arrived at the wedding site 45 minutes ahead of time and then tapped our toes. Oh, we had the flowers for the party as well, but I was too discombobulated to pin any on and delegated the duty to my sister Miriam, who performed very well under pressure. I was saving my energy for being calm for when the bride arrived to help with the dressing.

here we have me and my dad before the ceremony:

At precisely 11 am, Sara arrived and sprinted to the house to get dressed. Whoa, calm down. Maggie and I got Sara into her finery, and then we all waited another half hour to 45 minutes for the rest of the bridesmaids to arrive (a scheduling snafu with the hair dresser). Meanwhile, my extended family was having a wonderful time socializing as some of them had just arrived in the wee hours. No problem.

The ceremony was beautiful. The readings were profound. Sara said "I DO" very convincingly (Glen said "I will"). Miranda crowned the bride and groom and Owen proffered the communal cup. All went well. Until the recessional. A moment of levity while the step brother of the groom found the correct music track and then the party filed out.

The bridal party had their pictures taken while the rest of the guests went on to the reception and enjoyed many appetizers, some of which were "sold out" by the time I (the MOTB) got there. cie la vie.
