Wow... I have no idea where this came from

Severus was always cold. When he began to shiver visibly, Harry would come up behind him and wrap his arms around his waist, breathing hot, steaming air against his neck that curled upwards to brush his ear and thread through his hair. The hard press of his body along Severus's back burned straight through the thick robes Harry always wore, like hot water soaking through linen.

The heat never reached the icy core that had seized him long enough to create a thaw, or even last for long, but Severus would still lean back, shuddering, into the scorching reminder of flesh.

Harry's tears burned even more than his skin, and Severus would turn in the embrace, bending down so he could taste the fine glimmer that streaked down the young cheeks.

Harry never protested, and stroked the other man's head gently, until his hands turned numb and shook.

That's when Severus would remember. His dark eyes would widen in horror and he would run, disappearing through the walls, leaving Harry with outstretched arms and frosted cheeks.

Harry knelt on the stone floor, thin fingers twisting the thick gold band around convulsively.

I swear on your own grave, love, I will find a way.
