challenge: Heat
word count: 100
The heat is oppressive, debilitating, melting, sweaty. Charles continuously wipes his forehead as he watches the children; they kick the ball back and forth, laughing, screaming.
Erik stands with him, arms folded, eyes on the ball, but brain on Charles and what he tremulously feels.
Erik does not sweat, does not speak or whine. He knows it’s hot, knows he should feel something.
Knowing what he’s going to be doing - and soon - should be making him pour buckets. But he stands with Charles and watches, not thinking of Shaw, only thinking of Charles.
Ice surrounds him as he remains, unmoving.
