What have I become, now that I'm alone?

Jul 10, 2009 17:06

A had the distinct feeling of déjà vu as he woke. He’d been in a seemingly perpetual state of slumber and half wakefulness for (what felt like) days. He knew that Y was keeping him sedated (rather than keeping his promise of killing him), and that these moments were fleeting before he would return and drug him again. A had no idea if he was being ( Read more... )

A knew the way to Upsilon's room given he had escorted them there when he was injured. A didn't know for certain how long ago that had been but hopefully the serious wound make the younger successor think twice about starting a fight with him if things went badly. He supposed it would help if Matt shoved a gun in his face, but he really hoped it would not come to this.

"This is it," he said to Matt lowly as he knocked on the door."Ya'qub, it's Alternate, open up!"

There was no opening of the door, and naturally the door was locked when he tried the handle. A frowned, Y was probably not here, if news had traveled he was dead Y would have to see for his own eyes. Yet this did not mean Amel wasn't in the room.

"Matt I don't like breaking and entering however, I recommend we go into the room," he sighed. It was a very Backup-like plan of action, but she had been right before that Amel's safety was most important.

I've got a bobby pin.

[She pulls one out from where it's keeping hair tucked behind her ear (on hand for exactly this purpose) and drops to her knees in front of the door. Picking a lock is easy as pie at this point, especially old fashioned ones like the mansion has.]

A was startled awake by a sound at the door, followed by a voice that sounded eerily familiar. In his state, however, he was far too weary to attempt standing up. "Wha...?" he groaned, trying to turn over on his side.

"Yes, thank you, that will be good," A said, at least that way if they found nothing it make it harder for Y to detect his room had been tampered with. Knowing Y wasn't there, he decided to try something more bold.

"A? Alternate? Are you here?" he called, perhaps if Amel specifically knew they were looking for him he be more inclined to answer than he had when he had asked for Y. A didn't like to think Upsilon could be so cruel as to hold someone captive, but he was unstable and he had done worse.

You home, sweety?

[Climbing to her feet when she gets the door unlocked, and pushing in to the room.]

The voices were louder now, and A forced his eyes open with a small moan. "Hello?" he called out weakly, trying to will the drugs from his system. He thought he heard Anslem's voice, but in the back of his mind he knew that it couldn't be him.

At the sound of Amel's voice A carefully but anxiously maneuvered his way around Matt. Amel looked even more frail and pallid then usual. He was alive however, though he seemed perhaps compromised.

"It's me A, oh I am so sorry about all of this," he said as he walked to the bedside to look into the other boy's face. He wanted to take him into his arms and never let him go ever again, he restrained himself however, because of Matt but more because he didn't know for certain what was wrong with him.

[Matt hangs back by the door. The tearful reunion is something she doesn't need to be a part of.]

He's real.

“Ans…” A couldn’t manage to get the entire name out as he stared into the face of a ghost. His breath became quicker, frantic. He was either hallucinating or he really had died and was now dwelling somewhere in limbo.

He doubted limbo was quite this painful, though.

“Am I…did I die?” he managed to say through his gasps, trying to raise a shaky hand to touch A’s face. His gaze darted up to the doorway at the sound of a second, also familiar voice. "Matt?" Is this real? Could it possibly be?

"No, no, lieber you didn't die I did however, I am certain." A took the indulgence of letting Amel touch his face, even gently guiding his hand towards it. He tried to keep the blissful expression off his features even if Amel touching him made him truly feel alive again.

"It's like the first time," he tried to explain. He cracked a weak smile. "You can ask Matt if she can see me too. Nevertheless, perhaps you suspect I am not real due to not only seeing my body, A, have you consumed any drugs recently?"

You're not dead. And he's real; I recognized him. He took me ball room dancing, remember? I thought I'd better get him back here to you, where he belonged. Your stray double.

A's body trembled as he tried to take it all in. The first time...after he had committed suicide? A swallowed anxiously as he spread his fingers across his lover's warm face, a face he never thought he'd touch again after feeling it so dead and cold. "A...A, you're alive?" he repeated back, his eyes darting between Matt and Anslem, as if he still couldn't believe it. He narrowed his eyes at the mention of drugs, and along with it the reminder that Upsilon was probably going to be back soon.

"Yes...ah, chloroform. Y d-drugged me. Several times. Large dosage," he mumbled, still running his fingers along A's cheek.

A's eyes widened and he glanced at Matt, a horrible feeling icing over him even with Amel's warm fingers tracing patterns across his cheek. Don't- don't lose your temper. He grimaced, Upsilon had better not see him until at least a few hours, he may just kill the other boy angry like this. To strengthen his resolve he gently tried to lay a hand on Amel's.

"A do you have any idea for how long? How many days?" Chloroform was easy enough to make if you had the right ingredients, and A knew in the Mansion Y had likely had to resort to mixing it himself. The home made kind however was even more dangerous than the medical version. Upsilon could have very easily killed Amel by misjudging on a dosage even slightly. For what possible purpose?

And I'm off to bed bbs, let's pick this up again soon. Laters. ♥

Can you sit up? We should blow this popsicle stand.

[She makes light of the situation purposefully, trying to get across to Anslem with her expression that it's imperative that they get out of here right now. This would not be a good time to have a confrontation.]

"Days...for days," he groaned. "M-maybe a week? I have no idea." He couldn't explain the reason behind the drugging, he was too exhausted to attempt it, and now feeling ridiculously embarrassed by his choices the last few weeks. He'd almost killed himself, and for what? Mel and Matt were right; sometimes the dead rise again here, apparently. A looked at Matt, noting the exchange of glances between the two of them, the duo's expressions making him more nervous. "Yes, let's get out of here, quickly. Please, help me up."

"I'll help you stand, but it may be best if I carry you. It will be faster, and also if you have been supine for that long you may be too weak to walk." Not to mention possibly dehydrated and starving, A thought as he extended his arm to wrap around the boy's waist and let the other hand be taken by Amel.

Amel was unhealthily thin already and he may have lost even more weigh during his ordeal because A was certain he wouldn't have eaten this entire time of his own accord. He had never carried the younger boy before but he had been fairly healthy when he had been killed, at this time it shouldn't be too hard for A to lift him.

"...My room isn't too far away," he stopped himself from saying 'our' room. If there was a corpse there he shove it under the bed or something.
