Doug sat alone in the kitchen, dressed only in his boxers and an inside-out T-shirt, turning a slice of toast over and over in his hands.

I was wondering how long it would take Tom to snap. Because he's always so controlled, always seems to know exactly what to say, what everyone ought to be doing, and he's lost here. For the first time, we see him without a clue of what to do, and it's painful to watch, but so *right*. I love that you got his dodgy temper in there, because it's one of those things he tries to hide, but it slips out sometimes, and, ♥
In a lot of ways, Tom was the most challenging character to write. I don't mean he was hard to define, more that - am I about to give anything away here? don't think so… - it takes a lot of control and subtlety to get the effect I want, to plant the signs of things yet to reveal themselves. Not quite sure he's where I want him to be yet, but... Hands up everyone who thought this was going to be an “evil Tom” story and got a surprise.
Tom's... it's so easy to write him as this fluffy geeky boy, and he mostly is, but he's also a pissy bitch, and I love that you're getting that. I have to admit, I have close to no clue where you're going, but I don't think I *want* to know, if that makes sense. I'm loving how I don't know what will happen, what the reactions will be, but when they're there, they seem to *right*.
Ha! I thought it was going to be an 'evil Fletch' story. O_o
I thought a lot of people might go for one or the other. Must be something about the name "Fletcher". Would it surprise anyone to know my take on Fletch isn't one I've seen very often? :) I can also promise no hospital scene. Wait for the (as yet completely undeveloped) McFly-House crossover if you want that. I need to come up with a suitably intriguing condition for one or more of the lads. Heh. Cameron taking Doug's history - that should be entertaining. Mother-hen overload. Foreman in a battle of wits with Harry, Chase and Tom trading issues,Fletch and Cuddy swapping notes. Actually, I bet Danny really could make friends with Uncle Greg... This has possibilities.
