Harry seems a little touchy about that. The same thing (his expendibility) came up on an interview on Freshly Squeezed on Channel 4 around the same time. At least then, Doug and Dan stood up for him.
It was funny watching Simon on the first series or two of Buzzcocks, because the guests used to fight back and he really wasn't used to that. I kind of feel sorry for Alex, because he seemed to get stuck with keeping it the same, and the big reason Simon and Miquita left was that the formula wasn't working any more...
Oh well, fair enough. I'd say seriously rather than fatally ill, though, and I doubt it ends quite like you think it's going to.
I like that analogy. And yes, definitely trying too hard. Pity. Alex seems like a smart guy; it's just a shame he didn't manage to "make the show his own".
