My mum came out of her surgery fine yesterday, but she is going to be in a lot of pain for the next couple weeks as her throat heals. She can barely talk -- she croak-whispered an "I love you" into the phone last night, but that was all. Please send her some good thoughts and warm wishes.

In other, more cheerful news, I've been looking into 5Ks! jennyclarinet and hilldo know this! I know that katmillia and darcenciel have both expressed interest in running a race like this -- is any particular month better/worse for you guys?

Apparently it si hard to find races in Ohio!

This is the first one I found. It's the "Star Trax 5K Night Run", in Salem OH. I thought hey! how cool! a 5K at night! It's apparently a certified candle-lit course. The run would be Saturday, 08/01/2009, and starts at 9:00pm.

The bad news is, Salem is about 1:20 away from where I actually live... a bit far for a race? I mean, I'd do it, because y'know, candlelight and all that. but still.

The next one I found is in Solon, OH, which is closer to me. It's called the "Yates 5K" and the proceeds from the race go towards the ALS Chapter in Ohio. The race is Sunday, 06/07/2009 and starts at 8:30 am.

There is a Rocky River Nature Center 5K/10K on Saturday, May 16, 2009. I like this date because my birthday is May 03, and how awesome would it be for me to run a 5K for my birthday? I mean, really, that's a goal I can totally get behind. This one's in Cleveland.

And this one is Saturday, May 09, 2009. It sounds like you actually get to run in the Metroparks (Cleveland's awesome state park system), which would be awesome! 9:00am.

This is in Cuyahoga Falls, on September 20th 2009. Cuyahoga Falls is really close to us, so that's cool.

So anyway. Who is still interested? What months are good? Are there any specific causes you guys would like to support or look into?
