Cute things, more self-insert fic (what is wrong with me?!!), and a super-long ramble on my origiverse. What could be better??
(7) Kittens or puppies?
BOTH!
PLEASE!
NOWWWWW!!!
...f'r real, do I have to pick? You don't understand how much I like kittens and puppies. Kittens and puppies make something in my heart go squish like nothing else in this world does. Seriously. It makes me a terrible human being but even babies don't make me squee and squeal and feel like my heart is being tromped with cuteness and love like puppies and kitties do.
I used to volunteer at a shelter, actually, when I lived in Delaware. I worked in the "special cat" room, where you had kittens and cats being rehabilitated to get used to normal human contact, so that they could be adopted and taken home. Really all you had to do was stay in the room, be not-threatening, and shower the poor abused and scared kitties with love and pets. And you were really doing them a service, because you were making them more adoptable. My friend Anabel and I also got certified as Shelter Dog Trainers to help train the new puppies on basic commands like sit and stay to make them more adoptable. It felt really good to do, for someone like me who loves animals.
I guess overall if I could only ever have one, I am more of a kitty person in personality and lifestyle. I like that cats are cuddly and yet low-maintenance, and I love the cat personality. However, like I said, I love puppies, and I plan to get a corgi puppy at some point in the future, so the answer is, as always BOTH AND NOW YES PLEASE.

(8) I wanted you to write about when you realized you were a stone cold hottie fox with a banging body but I present you with self-insert fic instead.
The bar was dimly lit, smoky, and ready for a rumble - just like she liked it. She tapped the bar, signaling for another whiskey, and swept the room with eyes hidden behind sunglasses. As the bartender slid the glass across the short surface, her eyes fell on a pair of men in the corner.
"Them."
The bartender glanced up once and then turned her gaze back to the shot glasses before her. "Too easy."
The blonde smiled as she took a sip of the drink, ice cubes clinking. "That's the point, isn't it?"
One of the men stood up suddenly, shouting something at the other man - who stood up just as abruptly, shoving the small table between them to the floor.
The blonde sighed, setting her glass down. "They can never wait for me to finish."
The bartender had already drawn her handgun; she tucked dark waves behind her ear and grinned. "Let's do this."
The bartender vaulted herself over the bar and through the air just as the blonde spun and leapt through an almost nonexistent space between patrons. They landed between the men, the bartender's gun trained on the first and the blonde's hands raised for attack towards the second. The air around them fell silent as the crowd noticed the two smoking hot women, both wearing dark, threatening suits. Even more frightening was the fact that the women were almost exactly identical - save their hair and a pair of sunglasses, they could have been clones.
"Turks." The first man spat it into the silent air.
Drakon grinned. "Nobody ever falls for our disguises. Sev?"
Sev nodded in response, and a sharp kick to the face felled the second man right as Drak brought the base of her handgun down on the first man's neck. Two seconds later, Sev was levitating the unconscious bodies as Drak cleared a path through the crowded bar.
"Funny," Sev mused as she maneuvered the bodies over a table. "Why do they always recognize us?"
Drak snorted. "Two stone cold hottie foxes with a banging body shared between them? Who else could it be?"

(9) post about the story of 7 beacons along with character design sketches, howboutthat
Well, the character design sketches will have to wait since I'm at work, although this gives me an excellent excuse to start drawing them again (thx, Enkida!)...
Okay, so first of all, Seven Beacons (which I will be calling Beacon because it's shorter to type) is a story that's meant to feel like a video game. It was designed to take fantasy and video-game cliches and either twist or break them. So while a lot of the "saving the world" story may sound stereotypical, part of the point is to walk with these cliches and use them in our own way.
HERE I SPOIL MY OWN STORY HA HA
The story starts in a world recovering from the fantasy equivalent of a nuclear holocaust 1000 years ago. The ancient world was a peaceful and prosperous one, kept in balance by the magical force of the planet which manifested in seven elemental magics. The Naturi, an ancient race, could use the magical power of the world as a source of energy, and brought light and technology and peace to the entire planet. However, 1000 years ago, something terrible happened which destroyed almost all civilization, and drove the Naturi to extinction.
On top of the devastation and destruction from that, two of the continents of this particular world have been at war with each other for over 60 years. And to top that off, four years ago marked the debut of a terrible weapon, called the Fire Ships by the common people; it is said that the Fire Ships use some of the ancient forbidden technology of the Naturi, and they've almost completely wiped out towns and cities around the world. It is not a very pleasant time for our people.
The story of Beacon really starts with a Southern spy, Flash, who learns that the war may not be just a war - it could possibly be a front, by another continent thought to be abandoned, a distraction for something much more sinister. This spy finally catches the ear of the Northern General Morgan, the one person who might actually believe him, and this unlikely team (! can you tell how I like my storytelling to start?!) sets out to investigate whether this could be true and why in the world the Eastern Continent would actually perpetuate a war so destructive and bad for the planet. What sparks their voyage is something even more sinister -- one of the seven Beacons, ancient towers that are all that remains of the Naturi age, suddenly comes alight with magical energy. No one knows how or why, and Morgan - who was raised as a historian, and knows the Naturi legends - starts to wonder what the events of 1000 years ago have to do with the war of today.
The story pulls together seven characters as Flash and Morgan work to unravel the secrets of the Beacons and the real intentions of the East. This part will help with the character design sketches, so I'll flesh them out a little here as the story goes along:
- Armenise, an Amazon from the North who served with Morgan in the army until the Fire Ships attacked her homeland four years ago, joins them when Flash and Morgan travel to the North to try and examine and/or turn on another Beacon there. Armenise is a Rothandran sorceress, a race of people tied closely to the magics of the earth, and she becomes somewhat of a spiritual leader to the group after overcoming some of her hangups about her past.
- After their attempt is successful, they search out Nerea Levia, a young scientist who had done exciting work on the elemental magics and their energy conversion before her funding was cut for the war effort. Nerea is brilliant, but an absolute coward. However, the East wants her for some reason, and Morgan takes the young girl under her protection as they continue to try and unravel what the Beacons really are.
- As the story unfolds the North and South eventually ally against the East, and the dark force behind the East - a race known as the Extari - makes their appearance. A (formerly) Eastern assassin called Dianali defects from the East when she realizes the truth behind her master, a man called Rafe, who is actually not human, but Extari. Dianali only knows that Rafe wants a girl called Nerea, and so she travels to where Morgan and co. are - and rather than following her orders (assassinate Morgan and kidnap Nerea) she decides to join the travelers, for reasons all her own.
- As Rafe moves on the ancient capital of Vianaturi with his fleet of Fire Ships, Morgan makes a desperate trip to the tribal islands of the Fire Clans - a race of synthsmiths and engineers who make dangerous magical potions and powerful hybrida crystals that can carry magical charge and have been used to explore the ancient Naturi devices. Here they meet Forte Piluko, who defends a Fire Ship attack using nothing but hybrida and his amazing strength. Upon capturing a Fire Ship, Forte puts together just how the East has been producing the Fire Ships and how they work. With this knowledge (and its romantic subplot, haha) Morgan wonders if they can stop the Fire Ships - and maybe the East - for good by lighting the ancient Beacon in Vianaturi.
- From here they travel to the monasteries of Vianaturi, looking for someone with ancestory (Nerea has figured out that the Beacons only respond to someone with a magical bloodline from the nation the Beacon overlooks). This is where they find Ashain, a mysterious orphan with a terribly powerful healing gift. Since the healing magics are indicative of Vianaturi ancestory, Morgan takes Ashain and her group of rag-tag warriors and plans a desperate assault to infiltrate Vianaturi and activate the Beacon's protective defenses to save the people of the city.
They fight their way to the top of the Vianaturi Beacon, where they meet Rafe, who is trying to harness the Beacon's power for himself. Morgan and her friends fight a gruesome fight against the Extari, and finally Ashain finds his faith and courage and touches the panel which will activate the Beacon.
And, basically, the world blows up.
I think I've already talked too long about this story, so I'll stop here, but Part II is all about finding out how this world's magic and elements work, why these seven people are the "chosen scions", what Rafe was actually doing, and how to stop the Extari for good.
