So apparently everyone now knows about the Locals name change to the Matches. Fucking finally! Jeez. Cait and Matt told me like two months ago, and keeping secrets is hella hard. Fuck E. Von Doll or whatever in Chicago. I'm not thrilled with the name that they decided on, but believe me, for all of you cynics: they came up with much worse ones, which luckily went to the trash bin.
Speaking of Locals/Matches related material, Matty W. IMed me yesterday which was odd considering we never talk online, only on the phone. Weird. But it was nice to talk to him since I haven't really gotten the chance to in a while. I'm sort of happy that they aren't playing in SoCal with CN:R. Ha.

Tonight at the MCYC I learned a whole lot about the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) being formulated by the World Heath Organization. Fuck Big Tobacco, really, fuck them to the maxxx. If anyone is not gonna quit smoking to save themself, they should do it to stop supporting a company as fucking corrupt as those in the tobacco industry. The FCTC would institute internation law on tobacco companies, who (since their validity has been debunked in the US compared to the rest of the world) have decided to take their business overseas to push their life-threatening product on the inhabitants of underdeveloped countries. Here some fucked up business is going down, such as money laundering, unheard of advertising schemes, and complete and outright abuse of local resources and local farmers. In Uganda, less than half the population of all children are in school, because most are working in tobacco farms. Big Tobacco is encouraging farmers to stop producing food and start producing tobacco for them. However, the farmers must buy all supplies from Big Tobacco, eventually hurling them into debt. In addition, pesticides (so potent they are illegal in the US) are used without direction or discretion, making all the farmers and their children deathly ill.
Fuck Big Tobacco. And fuck everyone who patronizes or abbets their industry.
