***THIS FRIDAY OCTOBER 21, 2005***
PUT YOUR BEST FACE FORWARD, AND YOUR BEST DRESS ON . . .
Unanimously voted San Francisco's hottest new nightclub, BLOW UP returns with a night of blazing rock n' roll, hot dancefloor party tracks, beautiful people, plus anything and everything else your nubile heart desires. . .
Keeping its ear to the underground and living on the cutting edge of the next Big Thing, BLOW UP is honored this month to showcase a band that guarantees to live up to their name . . .
THE ADORED
In a time when most bands seem more concerned with their haircuts than their harmonies, The Adored have mastered them both.
The Adored's infectious postpunk/brit-pop/disco sound attracted the attention of major indie label V2 Records signing them to a multi-record deal. Their debut EP, released in January, not only recieved unprecedented critical praise, it features guest vocalist and adamant fan Pete Shelley of the infamous punk band The Buzzcocks. With twitching guitar hooks and a speed that tugs urgently at the sleeves of your designer suit, The Adored refuse to disappoint. That's a promise.
And! Guiding you throughout the antics and shenanigans of Friday night, a man who is a living legend, your Guest Host . . .
MERKLEY???
One half of the white-boy soul-funk lovemachine Bing Ji Ling, you can find Merkley??? cruising around town in a silver 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V (unfortunately not pictured). Artist, musician, and definitive cultural icon, Merkley??? is a true gentleman with style to boot. He'll be anxiously awaiting your arrival Friday night, and in the meantime you can visit him at www.threequestionmarks.com.
***SPECIAL ADDITION!***
With the unprecedented success of last month's film premiere, "Reform School", BLOW UP has another cinematic treat in store. . .
This 20 minute film, Born to Rock, stars members of The Paradise Boys and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone in a playful yet heartfelt look at the internal struggle one musician faces in the decision between becoming a mod, or remaining a rocker. Directed by Danny Ruxspin (who will be DJing the music that insired Born To Rock, immediately after the flim), this creative comic endeavor is not to be missed!
The screening commences at 9pm, so plan on arriving early.
+ Free admission before 10 +
And!
As per usual, DJ JEFRODISIAC, nominated for DJ of the Year by The SF Weekly, will arrive from the awards ceremony with trophy in hand, spinning gold from the turntables and you into esctacy. Always keeping the dancefloor hot and your pulse pumping.
