Fandom: taking back Valentine's Day since 2008!
So last year
bottle-of-shine had a Kissing Battle. The last edition is
here (EDITED TO ADD: this is the old battle, not the current one!). It was a lot of fun and might be known around FF-fandom circles as the best Meme ever**.
Pretty much everyone I know is stressed about something, too, so this round of the

The dragon speaks, and the voice of the sea-snake is so terrifying that Rydia blocks it out: no, it's NOT talking to me, I CAN'T understand it. I'm dreaming. I'm dreaming...
Leviathan is talking to her, huge dark terrifying words, and Rydia's hands are clenched as she tries to force them back out of her ears.
And then the sun comes out.
Golden light, and warmth, and it's so much like Rosa that she chokes on her own tears and looks up in wonder. Shining silver hair, and the noble face of a queen which breaks into a smile better than any Cura she's ever felt. It's a blessing. The tears dry on her face, unnoticed.
"Sweet daughter," the queen says, bending to kiss her face. "Welcome home."

"They are here." Leviathan is grave as he summons her forth; she's seventeen, now, and Rydia knows Leviathan's kind nature sometimes eclipses that of his queen. He cannot fault his snake-nature. "The time has come. They've entered the Underworld, and you must return, my daughter."
Rydia nods. She'd never really questioned it; it was truth.
"I give you my blessing, dear." Leviathan bends forward, and Rydia bows her head to feel sea spray on her cheeks.
"I give you mine as well," Asura says, and stands. Rydia does not look up: this one was her mother in more ways than blood, and she will not leave without a true goodbye.
"The kiss of death." This is Asura's war-face: she was goddess of war long ago, with a brass helmet and a silver bow. She leans forward and kisses Rydia's forehead, and even as she does so her face changes. "The kiss of life," and this face is that of the all-Holy: white, pure, and gleaming with a light so forbidden to Rydia now that she will never really understand it.
Asura smiles. This is her most-human face, and Rydia loves it like a mother. "And the kiss of healing, which walks in-between."

Asura kneels before her.
"Congratulations, sweet daughter." Her voice is soft and yet proud, sun and steel as only Asura can be.
Rydia presses her lips to Asura's forehead, and receives her summon.
