HBP Movie
I've only ever really used this journal to comment about HP. So I guess it is only fitting that after two years, I comment on the HBP movie, which I just finished seeing at the midnight viewing.
I have only one word: IMPRESSED!
While not going into too much detail, I will say that this is the first HP movie in which I've actually laughed out loud. I may have chuckled here and there during the previous 5 movies, but only in this one have I found something funny enough to actually laugh not once but a number of times. The audience at the midnight viewing was also great, very enthusiastic, and so there was a lot of laughter in the theatre tonight. As well, since this is the first movie that has come out after DH and hence we all know the ending, I think that added an extra layer to my perception and perhaps made me more tolerant of what was cut or changed in the film versions than I have been previously.
It's still not IMO quite LOTR movie status (my personal yard stick when measuring books that I love to movie adaptations). But of all the HP movies so far, this comes closest IMO to capturing the essence of the books even though a lot of stuff was cut and some things were added or changed.
