I had a lovely dinner last night with some of my closest friends on Dublin for my 23rd birthday.
^ L-R: Li Ann, Laone, Yongxian.
^ L-R: Pei Ching, Yew Lee, Li Ann.
^ L-R: John, Daniel (who can speak French!).
We started off with dinner at
Les Freres Jacques, a Michelin-starred French restaurant in the city centre. I had only been there once before but the early bird special is a really good deal (I ate so much!). ♥
^ The boys bought me a birthday drink (fruit liqueur and champagne), which was so intimidating. XP Thanks, guys!
^ Starter of fish cakes and yogurt dressing.
^ Hake fillet and a delicious, creamy (if very rich) riso pasta patty. The lobster bisque sauce was to die forrrrrrr!
^ Yongxian's braised lamb shank with minted mushy peas. Really delectable!
^ She's waiting to dig in!
^ I ordered pear and almond tart with honey mascarpone.
^ John's orange chocolate gateau.
^ My birthday cake (which was wrongly made. The shop actually forgot to bake the cake which Yongxian ordered, so when we went to collect it they offered us this mango/passionfruit (?) white chocolate cheesecake replacement. And that's a chocolate shard beside it. :3).
^ I got a sparkler instead of a candle! So we sang the birthday song in 3 different languages (English, Chinese, French) until it burned out.
^ After downing half the glass of champagne. I passed it around the table for everyone to have a taste because I couldn't finish it all by myself.
The service there was pretty bad this time around. We kept having to call the waiters downstairs and they just wrapped the leftover piece of cake in foil without giving us a box. >_< Maybe we all just looked like really poor students.
Then we all went to my house to watch Asian horror movies until 3am. XD
