30 minutes as an old lady and some fanart
Today was the first day of the final term of 3rd year T_T. It was a resource day on ageing. We got a series of lectures about ageing and the changing role of the elderly in society as well as the challenges facing our greying population.
(The first lecturer was really cool. He referenced Hokusai as an artist who only grew better with age! Sweet! ♥
The last lecturer put up a picture of Daniel Craig in the buff from Casino Royale, and labeled all the age-related changes he could 'look forward to'. The girls were quite upset. XD)
Then we got into groups for a practical session on 'instant ageing'. 8D
1) They put dried peas into our shoes and taped our fingers together to simulate arthritis.
2) They gave us goggles smeared with vaseline to mimic cataracts.
3) They plugged cotton rolls into our ears.
4) They put our dominant (I'm right-handed, so my right) arm into a sling, as if we had a stroke that left us hemiplegic.
Then they made us take the lift downstairs to fetch a particular patient pamphlet (with extremely small print for the title!) and then climb the stairs back into the clinic to brush and floss our teeth with only one hand. I took off my regular glasses for this, and since my power is almost 900 on the left, side I was truly blind. I couldn't even recognise the people in the same room with me! D8
(None of us could floss with only 1 hand...)
It was a very meaningful experience. :)
The whole thing was also a bit weird, because I watched my grandmother deteriorate from a stroke for almost 9 years before she passed 2 years ago. She was hemiplegic and couldn't speak properly, let alone bathe, dress and feed herself. I still feel a lot of guilt knowing now that stroke victims can be fully-rehabilitated with early detection and physiotherapy. It was just neglect that made her deteriorate beyond help.
Now let's move on to some lighter things.
^ I've returned to the FFXII fandom for awhile. The Ronsenberg twins again. :)
^ Ireland, Australia, New Zealand if they were in Hetalia.
I recently saw Himaruya's canon version of Australia. He seems a bit too generic for me though...
^ Jamal & Latika, Slumdog Millionaire. ♥
THE only OTP in this movie. GYAAHH! I love it so much!
Jamal's arm looks weird and their linked hands are too tiny. T_T
