London Expo report

Nov 07, 2010 15:05

I left my camera charger in Malaysia, which explains the lack of photos. Most of these are from starstray and her friends.

I was pleasantly surprised at the volume of stuff we sold. Everyone who came by our booth were very chatty and friendly. Quite different from the more reserved CF crowd (where I had such a bad experience selling prints way back in 2004 ( Read more... )

they want to see their favourite characters acting cool

I guess I'm one of the few who don't fall into that category. Idk, I'm terribly hard to please when it comes to artbooks/prints... it boils down to the price and whether I like it. The problem with CF is not many actually draw my fave fandoms (with the exception of Hetalia), my interests are very niche mostly (I don't play alla them popular games but datings sims lol) and I'd buy prints if I like it. If anyone did a very pretty print of One Piece I'd plonk my money down faster than lightning lol

How was the response to the your game prints btw?

My stuff was really hard to sell off. Most people just looked at the FF7 piece and just moved on. And I guess I priced it quite high?

I hardly buy anything at CF for that same reason too.

aik? I thought at least the game prints would be easier to sell since games have a wider audience...

anyway, if you were to make an artbook I'd definately buy it lol

I lower my standards when it comes to doujins, since I prefer to buy doujins more than merch i.e badges and bookmarks. Sadly more ppl at CF are selling merch since it's easier to make :(

I'll probably make an artbook but just one for my own records. I tend to draw everything really small so I'd have to churn out a whole load of things especially for it. OTL

Yea, I think it was more to do with the fact that my stuff isn't really cool enough. OTL

My standards for doujins are really high. I can't stand lame stories.

Ah, to each his own then sobs I think your stuff is pretty cool eventho it covers fandoms that aren't mine T v T

My standards for doujins are really high. I can't stand lame stories.

lol If I did that, then I wouldn't buy anything XDDD I'm easily entertained so as long I can get anything out of a story, I'd buy it... barring language barriers or inside jokes/stories requiring knowledge of the series beforehand.
Now artbooks~ I'm actually not fond of buying them... even official ones (I have two so far). I only buy them if I'm really, really, really, reaally fond of the artist... esp when it has linearts lol

Well cool in the sense of subject matter. 8D

I did take a chance on an FF doujin before and I was unpleasantly surprised by the amount of cheese in the story. The only thing that saved it was the art. Maybe that's why I'm easily traumatized.
