During my hiatus from LJ, I met a couple of tv shows that I have big crushes on.

The first is Battlestar Galactica. I'd heard it was good, but due to having no satellite access, it seemed a distant dream. I saw the mini series some time ago which I liked but didn't blow me away. I saw series 1 had gotten very cheap on Amazon so figured it was worth a go. Less than halfway through the series and I'd ordered series 2 & 3! It is so well written and has great fully realised characters. It works as a military series, political thriller and has just enough sci-fi too. Absolutely fantastic, and I've already converted my sister to it's charms!

Next up is a little series that I stumbled on whilst in the US. Daytime TV in America is just as brain-rot inducing as it is here, especially the fawning talk shows, so in an effort to find some sanity I kept ending up on the sci-fi channel. On one of my quieter days in Redondo, I saw 3 episodes of Eureka (otherwise known as A Town Called Eureka), and loved it's small town weirdness. I was lucky enough to see the first two episodes of season 1 which set up the story. Since I got home, I've bought the boxset (region 1 only - grrrr) and *cough* obtained season 2 which I started watching last night. It has a lot in common with one of my all time faves, Northern Exposure, and on the commentary the creators said that it was a major inspiration. Also...the sheriff is very cute!

So, that's what I have been watching as well as Boston Legal season 2 (one disc at a time from Lovefilm), Bones season 2 & 3, Greys Anatomy, Private Practice (which I'm starting to like more than Greys even though I think the title sucks) and Supernatural.
On good old terrestrial TV, must sees are Spooks, Strictly Come Dancing (and It Takes Two), Top Gear and I have been watching Cranford. I admire it's elegance but I have the same problem with it that I had with the book - not very much happens!

PS. LA trip updates will continue but my internet at home has been playing me up
