Hurricane Ike in Upstate NY
So on Sunday Night / Monday morning we got hit by the remnants of Hurricane Ike, with up to 60 MPH winds. I don't think we got nearly that much, but parts of Upstate NY had serious power outages, enough to close schools.
We were spared damage, but one of our two apple trees came down, and even more suckfully, the apples were still about 3 weeks from becoming ripe. We'll try to salvage what we can and make some pies or something, and the wood will be put to good use, but this is just more impetus for me to get off my ass and order trees. It will be quite a few years until they can bear a decent amount of fruit though.
