Our copier at work has been doing strange things for some time now. Finally, after the zillionth time we called the copier guy to fix it, he gets to the root of what's screwing up the machine. You know how a plug has one prong wider so you plug it into the outlet right? Apparently the ancient outlet we've been plugging it into has the polarization wrong, so we've technically been plugging it in backwards all this time.
I wasn't there when this was discovered, but today I saw the note they left for maintenance to explain what needs to be corrected. Yes, that's right, kids. They need to reverse the polarity.
I'll have to tell Cliff* the Sci-Fi Guy on Tuesday. Hopefully he'll laugh and not look at me in slack-jawed confusion. If the latter occurs, I shall have to part with my pretty Series 1 DVDs for a time. *clings* But it's for the greater good. I am here to educate, you know.
