I loathe Mondays

My day started with seeing a squirrel get hit by a car. I cried. Not exactly a stellar beginning.

Work went swiftly, for the most part. At around 2:00 I hit a wall of some sort, and was overcome with anxiety and discontent. I wanted to get out of there, badly. I had an overwhelming urge to be at home, in my own surroundings, and it was vastly different from the standard "ugh, I don't want to be here" kind of crap that plagues normal work days.

But I stuck it out because I needed to. Work Wifey and other work girlfriends distracted me until 4:30 when I hit the road to get Mia.

When we got home I had to start immediately on dinner to ensure Ed and I eating sometime before 8pm. Mia wasn't particularly pleased with the fact that I went straight to the kitchen to work rather than sitting down to hold her, and, well, I don't blame her. One of the many reasons I really want to move. If I lived closer to the office I could get home at a more reasonable time and better juggle this kind of stuff. As it is, I feel woefully inadequate, and like either my baby suffers or my household does.

I wish I could be Super Mom, and it's days like today that make me envy the women who seem to juggle it so much more seamlessly.

Anyway, I got a whole tray of onions and potatoes into the oven to roast and sat down with Mia just as Ed got home. We worked on trying to get her to eat, which isn't often easy, and keeping her occupied. He played with her and kept her happy while I went back to dinner to make some couscous and salmon, and we managed to eat without incident, even with Mia mooching a little bit from each of our plates.

Ed did bedtime while I cleaned up the kitchen and living room, he watched some TV while I tooled around on the internet, did a bit of work, and ordered our wedding guest book, designed with Blurb.com. In other wedding news, Mia's flower girl dress came today and while it's long, it fits around her chest pretty well. I'm going to put it on her again tomorrow to make sure, but I think we're keeping it. She looks cute :)

I was exhausted by 9:30 and came upstairs to watch my latest Netflix, the Season 1, Disc 1 of Dexter. I'm now watching episode 2, and, dude, this is creepy. I mean, I'm not really shocked, since it's a show about a serial killer, but I didn't exactly know what to expect. It's a good show, so far, and rather fascinating, so I'm still watching. I told Ed that I've set a rule, though, that I can't watch it unless he's home.

Tomorrow I'm going to start a To Do List for the week. I'm worried about falling behind, letting something slip, or getting lazy. Clearly I'm having a "I can't do this" kind of day. I'll try to keep the whining to myself, aside from the little bit that slipped in to this post... or maybe a filtered post, if I really need to get something out.
