Free things to do in the summer

Apr 17, 2009 13:20

For my own future reference when I am bored and broke and can't think of anything to do.  Repeat as necessary.  Some restrictions may apply.  (For example, the Botanical Gardens are only free Wed and Sat before noon, and the Omnimax is free because I have a crapload of extra tickets.  On the note, let me know if you want to go to the Omnimax.)
  • Go to the Science Center
  • Zoo
  • Art Museum
  • History museum
  • Picnics in the park
  • Walk Daisy
  • Scrabble
  • Game nights
  • The Muny
  • Read books
  • Shakespeare in the park
  • The International festival
  • Pirate movies off the internet
  • Tour the brewery
  • Visit cemeteries
  • The Contemporary Art Museum
  • The Butterfly House
  • Botanical Gardens
  • Laumeier Sculpture Park
  • The new Sculpture park downtown (giant bunnies, yo!)
  • Grant's Farm
  • The Omnimax
  • The Arch
  • Wander around taking photos
  • The Arch grounds
  • The river
  • Chain of Rocks Bridge
  • Bellerive Park and (abandoned?) train tracks
  • Playgrounds!
  • Make art
  • Earth Day
  • Hang out on the roof (very peaceful)
  • fireworks and free concerts downtown
  • Fly kites
  • Turtle Park (esp. late night night with a bottle of wine)
  • Elephant Rocks
  • Johnson's Shut-Ins
  • Go swimming
  • Make jewelry
  • Hot tubbing!
  • Go to art openings
I'll add to the list as necessary. Comment with any ideas.

On the note so free side, (but still cheap)  I insist that a bunch of us go camping this summer.  Additionally, I definitely intend to host a dinner party or two.  However, I also intend to work 60 hour weeks this summer (new store opens + internship) so we'll see what actually gets done

free, broke ass ho
