Eleven days and counting…

Eleven days until I go to India. I cannot believe my trip is almost here. So much to do until then, and yet - I have this feeling there’s no way I’ll be prepared. Just the experience of getting out of North America for the first time will be amazing, I’m sure, let alone going with eight of my dearest friends. There are certainly a few people not going that make this feel off, it’s almost wrong to go without them and they will be deeply missed (you know who you are). But I am looking forward to the simple act of actually living with my friends for several weeks, that in itself should be a blast! Being away from work this long, now that I am not sure if I’m looking forward to - I get antsy on long weekends. I know it will take some adjusting to, just leaving life here behind for a time. I haven’t yet decided if I want to be connected to the internet while I’m away - any advice? I’m starting to realize the things I need to get done before the trip’s upon me, and the people that I won’t see for a month if I don’t see now… suddenly this is all very practical and very real, not some far off goal.

And of course, beyond that, is India itself. A place I’ve been daydreaming about since I was eight or nine. I have no doubts that it will be different than I’ve imagined, but that’s half the fun - there’s so much to explore in this world, I don’t think I could ever run out of places to fascinate me (one of the blessings of mortality). What a wonderful Earth we have here.
