It's been a long long time.

It's been quite a long time since I've made a meaningful post, here. Probably about a couple years, now. A lot of things have happened and have been through a changes. But, ultimately, I'm no worse for the wear. Went through a lay-off, spring of last year, from the dispatch job at the telecommunications company, here in Kansas City. Ultimately, I am glad that I am no longer working there. I was very unhappy, tired, and generally my health was suffering from working the graveyard shift. Being that I worked weekends and the over-night shift, I spent very little time with friends or family and that made things quite a bit worse for me. I wasn't going anywhere, as far as my career was concerned. I had been laid off from that, spring of last year, and haven't looked back. About a month after getting laid off, I had gotten a cellulitis infection in my left leg. That landed me in the hospital for about 5 days. The infection was the first serious illness I had ever experienced and was my kick in the butt to get healthier. With that, I had been exercising on a daily basis, be it going to the gym, walking, riding the bicycle, or doing yard work. I've dropped about 150 pounds from my worst weight. Also, in that time, I started loading up on classes, working on finishing my bachelor's degree in Information Technology. I am now less than a week from finishing that degree. That's been the main jist of what I have been doing since my last post. I've mainly been trying to stay off the radar and out of trouble. Don't get out too much, as trying not to spend a bunch of money and such. I do the occasional board game night at the local comic shop and I did manage to make it to Central Plains Fur Con, in Wichita, a couple weeks ago. That was a lot of fun. I've also been trying to do more reading, this year. I have managed to read several books and am currently working my way through "No God but God", which is a book about the founding and evolution of the Islamic religion. I am going to try to make it more of a habit to post here, again.
