The holiday season always gets me thinking on how it's so ridiculous. I don't know anyone who celebrates Kwanzaa at my school--if you do, fine with me, but does it really have to be everyone's concern? Babies are not going to start crying on the other side of the world if you don't include someone's particular holiday in a little last-day-of-school speech, and none of my Jewish friends would beat you up if you gave them a Christmas card on accident. Why do we have to tiptoe around these words anyway? They're not offensive. You don't ever hear anyone care about Chinese New Year and I know a lot more people who celebrate it than Kwanzaa. Maybe it's just me and my not celebrating any December holidays, but it's dumb how we have to try and satisfy everyone with every word we say. And then the whole "ho ho ho" fiasco. Not everyone is five years old.
They're just words.
Oh, and merry Christmas. :)
I had shrimp linguini alfredo, biscuits, a caesar salad and lemonade at Ivy's 18th birthday party (wooo happy birthday and stuff) on Saturday. It tasted awesome. Then at Devi's 18th birthday party on Sunday I danced like an idiot with everyone else and it was also awesome. Tomorrow we're visiting relatives for "Christmas" (red pockets and playing Fire Emblem with Derek=awesome, the rest not so much). At Izzy's holiday party on the 26th we're apparently building gingerbread houses which sounds similarly awesome, and then on New Year's Eve we have our typical old Chinese friends party in which we usually do nerdy things like play cards or DDR but has potential to be awesome too.
Yay awesome? And parties. Yay. Contrary to popular online opinion, having a half-nerdlife is nice and some of you should try it sometime.
