I firmly believe that the main benefit of the existence of Cupid's Postbox is to provide an outlet for the supressed emotional surges of the poster. The possible emotional boost to the intended recipient is a distant second. Actually, that may be third, behind the enjoyment that opportunities for snark bring to the legions of Cupid-trolls.

But it's still a helpful and useful service and I'm grateful to the maintainers, who obviously have way too much free time on their hands.
