Updates on the Cosplay Sitch
Okay, so several things have happened:
-I sought help on fb with regard to the makeup . A friend posted a status calling out to all of her homestuck cosplaying buddies for help. I received much help, and made a new friend. :D I ended up buying 2 these http://www.amazon.com/Snazaroo-Face-Paint-light-grey/dp/B000H6QQJ6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1308763032&sr=8-3, and I cancelled the order from that International Fun House place this morning.
-I still haven't heard back from the other site carrying Ben Nye stuff (about what they have in stock), so I'm waiting on that. I figure I might still use the Ben Nye for my face, and at the very least, get the Final Seal and DEFINITELY the Liquid Hair Color in Midnight Black. -The friend I made on fb yesterday offered to help me with applying the makeup, and even offered to share some of hers with me (she will be at Otakon too). ^^
-I went on a wild goose chase after work today looking for sheet metal for the tiara and whatnot. Checked Home Depot, Tuscan Tile Co., Long Island Paneling, and some other place that I forget the name of. That last place suggested I check NY Metal Moulding in Farmingdale.
-I just got home though, and noticed the gold gift bag sitting on my dresser, that I got at the fencing dinner senior year. So, I got the idea that, rather than getting sheet metal, I could get the tacky-gold-plated-appearance of Fef's non-pastel accessories with gold paper like that. 38O I'm going to start thinking about where I could get it :D I could probably just glue the paper onto craft foam, and then spirit gum that onto myself. Another idea I had right before the paper one was painting craft foam yellow, and then applying a gloss to it to make it look shiny. I feel like the gold paint won't give that cheap yellow gold look, even if glossy (I feel it'd look more like a bronze-gold varnish, which I don't want).
-I ordered the lipstick, goggles, makeup primer, and that E6000 adhesive glue.
-I modeled the horns out of clay last night, and they're presently sitting and air-drying. I figure I'll sand and paint them on Friday.
-I need to go back to Michael's and return the velcro and some other stuff, and buy craft foam. I might need to return some stuff at AC Moore too, but I'm not sure.
-I think I wanna maybe go into a Ricky's or Party City and get tooth black. Maybe.
