So Dave and I are going to enter a saving race with our bank.  5 families will be picked and the family who reaches their goal in the alloted time, or comes closest to wins $10,000.  It is an amazing opportunity for us.  They will help us knock out our debt, and then...if, no I mean when we win, we will have the money we need for the adoption.  I am seriously tearing up at the thought of being able to get the money this quickly.

Here is a portion of the letter ST wrote for our application.
"We each are funding VUL policies, possess small savings, and operate out of our checking accounts for the most part.  There's not a lot of saving going on.

And boy, do we need it.  To make a long story short, we aren't likely to get pregnant, due to medical issues.  Rather than blow through the tens of thousands of dollars in fertility treatments for a slight chance of success, we've made a realistic and loving choice to adopt.  To put it succinctly, adoption ain't cheap.  We've begun the process of saving toward adoption goals.  It's not easy to knock out previous debt and save at the same time.

I think I have a sum of about 5 dollars in my savings account at this time.  We have a savings fund with ING, because it's got some massive interest, that we use for adoption, and we are only at about 10%-15% of our goal.
Our goal is simple.  We intend to save enough to adopt.  Our intent is to give a child the gift of loving parents.  We also would like to build the savings up to allow us to start funding some retirement options, even if it's just a trickle into some IRA, it'd be better than nothing.

We don't have a sob story that makes us a good candidate.  What we have is a dream, a goal.  We share this dream with a stranger, whom we haven't met yet.  That stranger to us is already loved in concept, and we can't wait to meet the little one to make it more than a concept, but a reality.  However, as money doesn't grow on trees, we have to save it first.  You can help us with that dream."

I love my husband.
Gods, I hope we get picked.

savings, adoption
