Well...some of the weekend was good...

Friday: Deadlands
So, this was  our 5th game (my 4th).  The game was going pretty good.  We didn't have either of our heavies, but we had a "man in black" and huxter, so it's not like we didn't have some fire power.  And my character is like an oober doctor (6d12 in general med and 4d12 in surgery) so we were still making in through the obstacles.  Eric was running a module, but it was pretty cool and we were all using our skills to figure out the mystery.  We followed one lead, which ended up being a dead end.  So we followed the next lead.  Now, geeks, let me lay out what we were given and you let me know if, as a player, you would have done something different...

1. We talk to Guy A at the museum about the artifact we found at the crime scene (he tells us a bit but says there is Guy B, who will know more about the tribe).
2.  We go to Guy B's house.  Look through the back door and it's empty except for his dog who is scratching at a closed door.  We go inside, calm the dog down, and then open the door (which leads down stairs).
3.  We go downstairs and see guy B dead and a dug hole leading out of the basement into a tunnel.  We follow the tunnel.
4.  we come across two Mud Gollums and eventually kill them.

After they are dead  Eric closes his book and says, "Ok we are going to end there," (I'm thinking because it's 1:30a we are going to end the game for the night.  "No, we are going to end the campaign.  If you guys keep going down the tunnel you'll be killed.  There are 50 Indian Braves and 10 Shamans and they can all conjure up the mud gollums.  So, let's talk about what game we want to play next.  I was thinking Star Wars."  (I'm not paraphrasing.  All that was said at the same time)

I was in shock, you don't do that to players!  Either 1. Don't give the players a direction you don't want them to go as their only lead.  2. Change the module a bit and knock down the force we were about to meet.  3.  Call the game and wait until we have our heavies and then see if we can do anything.  or 4.  Let's us try, if we die, oh well, it is Deadlands afterall...

Grrrr..

So I won't be playing a game he runs (for awhile if ever).  When I calm down I will try to tell him why I'm mifted.
Got home from the game and hung out with ST and Amanda until about 3am.

Saturday: Slept in and then the Serenity gang came over.  We got a late start but got to run two games.  We took a break in between games to say good bye to the whore Brandon and to wait for Ryan to get off of work.  V is a fun character to play especially with the interactions with the Cap'n.
So, first we completed our job stealing the goods with Danny.  Besides the fact that Cap'n almost drowned, we crashed the speed boat into the storage bay (causing the Cap'n and I to fly out and injure ourselves), and we might now be flagged because I had to shoot an Alliance plane out of the air, it was successful.  Went to Persephone to fence the stolen goods, and unfortunately after the cost of the scuba gear and the money that needs to go to Mei Mei (to fix her holes and refill her) there wasn't much money left.

Cap'n got another lead on a job, turned out to be a guy by the name of Badger.  We took the job of exporting fine (and fake) art.  While (oops most of the heavies) were picking up the goods, the boat got attacked by a gang known as the Red Dragons who have been giving us some trouble since before most of our current crew joined up.  Seems they want a bunch of money or the Cap'n dead.  Hmm..neither is an option.  There were only three left on the boat (the doctor, the blind kung-fu hacker, and the cowardly mechanic).  They did a good job fending the Dragons off, but then we had to figure out what to do with the bodies.  Cap'n told me to contact the authorities (really?), so I did.  Nelly got so nervous trying to tell the Alliance officer what happened, I had to step in.  I smooth talked the officer, fell in step with the whole "Yes Sir, No Sir" gou-si, even though at the time of my honorable discharged I outranked him.  They did their little investigation and went on their merry little way.  It's amazing what telling the truth can accomplish.

On our way to our next drop, I got a little visit.  Gorram Harbinger.  How does he find me?   Seemed he wanted me to give over my Cap'n.  No way in hell!  Gave the reins over to Tylus and jumped into the bird and made short work of his lackies.  When I turned on him he got scared and tried to run.  Seems I had done enough damaged to him that when he tried to do a hard burn, his engine exploded.  Hm..  i guess I don't have to worry about that Pi-gu anymore.

My favorite moments of the game:
  • Talking with the Alliance Investigator
  • Telling Cap'n over the intercom to go the the med bay and having him immediately change directions.
  • Having a similar conversation but being more stubborn and less obedient
  • Flying in the black against Harbinger's lackies.  I'm getting the hang of flight movements.

After game we all piled in the cars and went to Krystal Keep.  Very spur of the moment, but Heather asked where the closest geek shop was.  ST bought two Dark Heresy books...woot.  Rode home with VDM and laughed the whole way.  When we got home, Sparks, Danny, VDM and I played Wench which we decided was more fun with a larger group.  ST went to bed and we rolled up some Deadlands characters for a very small game.  This character should be fun.  She's a smooth gunslinger. Sparks and Danny left at about 1:30 and VDM and I talked and cuddled until about 3:30a. le sigh...

Sunday: was not such a fun day.  Slept until almost noon, at which point ST woke me up.  We went out, got haircuts and went grocery shopping.  Went home (while ST went out for a few more things) and I started the prep work.  I cooked for 7 hours straight.  i am so exhausted!!!  My brain shut off after about 6hours, but I needed to keep working.  Got 7 of the 10 recipes done.  43 meals cooked and frozen.  It was hard with ST's wrist, so I had to do a lot of the prep myself.  Poor thing was so frustrated.
