So, we're driving home the other night, Jess and I. We're listening to a new radio station that claims they'll play anything, and so far they're about right. In fact, I can't think of a song they've played twice yet, and they've been running for a couple weeks. But that, my friends, is beside the point. As we're driving, Stray Cat Strut starts playing. I start to sing along, feeling pretty hep to the jive, if you will. I look to Jess and say, with obvious Make Believe Smoooothness, "This is my theme song...I gots cat class, and I gots cat styyyyyyyle. You can have your "I'm like a bird", I gots cat class." To which Jessica replies " 'I'm Like A Bird' isn't really my theme song...it's about running away." "Well, love, you ARE like a bird though. And I, a cat." I left the inferred joke about the cat that ate the canary laying there in its innuendo glory. As Brian Setzer played the last bit of guitar on the end of the song, we both grinned, thinking that we'd just had some more of our typical banter...but no, our writers have more in store. Enter the Twilight Zone.
The light strings cue the next song, and my jaw drops straight open. It's Nelly Furtado, I'm Like A Bird. Holy mathematical improbabilities Batman! A short discussion of the finer points of the movie The Truman Show followed, and I went for the obvious punchline, looking wildly around and shouting "Where's the camera?!"
But wait...there's more. Not half a mile down the road, just next to West Carrolton's water treatment plant, Channel 2 News had their van out doing a remote. Yep. We found the camera. I should buy a lottery ticket.
and then my reply...
*Holds up water glass like a trophy*
I would like to thank our writers, without them this wouldn't be posible. My wonderful co-star and husband, and all the little people who make us look good. I would also *cue music* no wait there is more...I would like to thank *music gets louder* oh stuff your music. I would like to thank the world that revolves around us.
