hmmm...wow a long weekend.
Friday night dave and I ran errands and prepared for the weekend.
Saturday woke up nice and early and headed out to the park for Triumph. I don't know if I can say I enjoyed the game. I enjoyed parts of it, but I don't know.
The concept was cool on paper, but I don't think it was quite executed right. Players had a hard time remembering that I didn't know what was going on either. "Sorry, I'm a PC today just like you." And the plot of the game was dropped to the players OOC so it was hard for a lot of them to get their characters motivated once Thom called game on. And volunteers were asked to be a NPC for the day, and all the beat sticks left. Really, no true fighters were left. The NPC's might have been more even in numbers as the PC's but except for a few players, every character was one or two games old, and the NPC's outmanned the PC's in skills (as made evident by the attack on the tavern when Feanor actually fell). But I found it interesting character wise that when the GWT boys and Teifi are not there, Grezande and Feanor turn on each other. Jen and I had a blast picking on each other. My 2 favorite moments:
1. Talking to Grezande about how I used to coax Orias into the bath, which lead to Grezande picturing me in the bath with the "come hither" look, which lead to a flustered Grezande and fuel for hours of teasing.
2. Brandon's new alt character is a mongoose changling. A very cool concept: a human mage and his familar melded together in some sort of magic gone wrong. Anywho, Tave (the mongoose personality) came up behind me, sniffed me for a few minutes, then said, "Hmmm...it's funny...you have pointed ears like an elf, but *sniff sniff* you smell like a Barbarian," I love Brandon.3:30 came and it was time for us to depart for the show. So Grezande and I told everyone that we were bored so we were heading to Fairhame proper to bother the boys who were seeing to their Mayor duties.
The show saturday night was good, we were a little rusty after being off of a week, so some paraphrasing happened, but overall a good production. After the show we headed out to Ryan and Chris's and sat around the fire. A nice relaxing night after an exhausting day. Got to cuddle with Jason for a good deal of the night and then Jen took me home and stayed over.
Sunday woke up and Jen, Dave, and I met up with Mike and Megan for brunch at Pancake House. I was sure I would get something different, but ended up with my standard again. After brunch I rushed home and tried to get the director's gifts done, but failed in the endevour and showed up late for call. Oy! It was hot. I'm glad I showed up late, less time in the heat. The first show went off beautifully, then the cast went to Kroger to grab food and water for the next show. Mmmm...blueberries and a pear. Yum. Then it was time for the last show. Wow. I think it was my best performance yet. I almost started crying when I hugged Juliet good-bye in my last scene with her. I am going to miss this cast. Becky paid me an amazing complement, which was extra nice coming from her, because I know she wanted to play the Nurse as well. The friend support for the show was a little disappointing, but I am grateful for those friends who showed (thanks guys!) I have forgotten how fast productions go when you are an actor. as a director they seem to drag for me, but as an actor *woosh!* I can't believe this show is over with already.
After the last show we headed to BW3's for the cast party. After everyone left Jen and I sat out by my car for a while and talked. Then Amanda dropped Brandon off at his car (which was next to mine) and he joined in the conversation. We stood out in the parking lot until 11:45 when i said I needed to get home bc Dave was expecting me to be home shortly after he left the restaurant. jen got in her car and drove off. Brandon and I got in our cars, but then sat and talked through our windows for another 1/2 hour. I mentioned the desire to fight better and he offered to teach me with his wooden and bamboo swords. I'm sure that would make me a better fighter, I am just worried about the bruises. But no pain, no gain, right? He said he would put together a fight day soon for me. Eek.
