Flextime and Cocoa

I suppose it's about time I update.

...and now I have nothing to say.

Carry on! Tune in next time, when Betsy takes on the subject of real estate!

Alright, good. I think I'm past that.
dirac and I have been talking about buying a house lately. Not so much talking with intent to go buy, say, this weekend or anything, but talking as in making big fun plans. So don't laugh when I tell you the thing we have been most serious about discussing is the idea of building a geodesic dome. That's just like us, though, isn't it? Buying the energy efficient, structurally sound and odd-looking place to call home? I don't know what we can afford yet, but I think I (we) prefer to be building our financial future, versus building our landlord's retirement fund.
Well, Bets, when you put it like that... okay, maybe this is a better idea than I thought. I think some of the hesitation I feel about buying a house is because of it being such a big decision. A big, adult decision. Not just that, but also that there's more responsibility for upkeep. I will tell you, however, that we avoid calling the landlord at all costs. I don't know, we either don't like bothering him, or prefer to do things ourselves... but it is comforting knowing that if the plumbing breaks, or if the heat goes on the fritz, that we don't have to take care of it. Though, I think the comfort of being in our own place would exceed the comfort of not having to be responsible. Actually, being responsible has the potential of being kind of fun. If I want an ugly green and yellow striped wall, I could have one. Not that I want one, but you get the point. I could invite HGTV to come play if I wanted. (Now that I would do.)
Anyway... look at domehome.com to see what we've been talking about. Interesting ideas.

Obligatory Bird Note:
Felix has been plucking slightly less. She still looks like a fuzzy grey parrot-chicken (only) on her right side, but she's our fuzzy grey parrot-chicken. She does get smarter every single day. Most recently, she's figured out what the statement "Your turn!" means, and can respond accordingly. If Joe and I each make an identical noise, and turn to her and say "Your turn!" she will respond in kind, with the same noise, even if it's different than one we used in a trial half a minute earlier. Awesome stuff. I'm thinking that I'll start teaching her colors as soon as I can get my hands on a set of infant teething keys to train her with.
Okay, you're off the hook. Enjoy your evening!
