The ancient concept of Eros, with the underlying sense of becoming one with another, has taken a new meaning. Romance has aquired an artificial quality, with flavors of fraudulence and deception, the quality that let Oscar Wilde to observe, "When one is in love, one always begins by decieving oneself, and one always ends up by decieving others."
