valleywag.gawker.com/5124184/the-russian-bear-slashes-a-social-network "The bubble in social networking has burst, decisively. LiveJournal, the San Francisco-based arm of Sup, a Russian Internet startup, has cut 12 of 28 U.S. employees - and offered them
no severance, we're told."
basically, a lot of people are worried that LJ may go under, so are backing up their archives and trying out other sites... Personally, I created an account on InsaneJournal (henceforth known as IJ) and backed up my archives - ***JUST IN CASE***. I'm not certain how it's gonna unfold - the russians may use their own coders to keep LJ afloat or it might fold, but I figured better safe than sorry.
I also just tried several of the archiveal programs out ther and found the LJArchive works gret and easily. You can get it here:
sourceforge.net/projects/ljarchive/ You can find me on OKC as FireRose15 or IJ as firerose10... but i will continue to be on LJ until we see what happens...
