So uh Calgara, was someone hitting on Robin that you felt the need to beat him up so violently you got kicked out?

Hm, I do believe the term she used is the same thing, not to be taken literally.

hitting on her=flirting with her

Yeah the slang for it is weird... "hitting on" is considered like flirting but one-sided, "hitting" without the on = physical abuse.
