What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
Went on a date. Not that it really led to anything, since the guy was a possessive pervert, but yeah.
Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I think it was to study hard and pass my foundation year, which I did, with a distinction :D
I'm probably going to stick to working hard, but also try and be more outgoing, be more involved in the uni conservation society's work, work more on crafty projects in my spare time, and write more letters to my nan to let her know how much I care for her.
Oh, and help make mum's life less stressful.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope. A few girls I know had kids, but I'm not particularly close to either of them.
Did anyone close to you die?
No. Not this year, thanks god, unless anyone decides to croak it within the last 3 hours of 2009.
What countries did you visit?
The Netherlands and Tenerife...I'd like to say I'm planning to visit more countries in 2010, but I am rather poor and studenty, and ought to save up so I could visit other countries in years to come!!
What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
More happy times. And for my housemates to stop eating the food I buy for myself.
What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
None in particular, apart from meeting up with Dragon and Winky in February; both are absolutely lovely people who I wish I could hang out with more! ^^
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably kicking ass in my foundation year overall. Oh, and completing my 5k run for the Mood Foundation; can't believe we got over £500 in sponsorship money!!
http://moodfoundation.com/ What was your biggest failure?
Not putting as much effort into friendships as I ought to. Succumbing to my coffee addiction cravings last term.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Apart from my depression? Nope, not really.
What was the best thing you bought?
Probably some of my dvds, and my winter coat from matalan, cause it keeps me snug ^^
Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My mum, for being an absolute rock to so many people, and coping with all the shit thrown at her.
Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My housemates'. I thought they would be able to clean up after themselves like normal human beings.
Where did most of your money go?
FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD and travel costs. Anything left generally went towards cute stuff, clothes, dvds and comics.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Doctor Who, Supernatural, Hamlet, my 5k run.
What song will always remind you of 2009?
We are golden- Mika
Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) Happier or sadder?
Happier in some ways, sadder in others.
b) Thinner or fatter?
Just about the same really :(
Wish I could put on weight!!
c) Richer or poorer?
Slightly richer in terms of savings, but that's all really. I'm still a poor uni student.
What do you wish you’d done more of?
Getting out of the house and doing things with my friends, tried to be more sociable, eaten more fruit and veg, tried out more cooking recipes.
What do you wish you’d done less of?
Closing myself off, worrying myself into a state.
How did you spend Christmas?
Here at home with that bunch of nutters who I call my family.
Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Um...probably my mother?
Did you fall in love in 2009?
Nope.
How many one-night stands?
None.
What was your favourite TV show?
Definitely Doctor Who, not Torchwood after Russell T Davies killed off Ianto! :'(
Do you hate anyone now you didn’t hate this time last year?
I more dislike them than hate them. Oh well.
What was the best book you read?
Stardust/American Gods/Anansi boys by Neil Gaiman, the invisible ring by Anne Bishop, that torchwood book where Ianto wakes up a woman...
What was your greatest musical discovery?
Probably listening to the moldy peaches, belle and sebastian and joni mitchell.
What did you want and get?
Decent marks at uni, going to the Netherlands to spend time with my Dutch friends, some more books by Anne Bishop, season 4 of Supernatural and a hard-drive for my lappy.
What did you want and not get?
My dad being alive again.
What was your favourite film of this year?
I'm not really sure...I didn't see too many films.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 19. I went for a birthday meal in London with the family, and sat front row with my sister in a performance of Hamlet where David Tennant was the title role ^^
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably satisfying?
Passing this year at uni exceptionally well, learning to sew and knit better, learning to crochet, being more creative in general, leaving my current housemates and getting on well with my new housemates in September.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
In summer, generally less neutral tones and more colorful, happy tops. In winter, things that are more practical and warm.
What kept you sane?
My family and friends.
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Quite a few...
What political issue stirred you the most?
Global warming and human rights issues.
Who did you miss?
Sami, since she's all the way up in Swansea and with her bf most of the time :(
Who was the best new person you met?
Becka, for she is mad and crazy and awesome :)
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
Never try and go ahead with things that make you uncomfortable. If you don't like a guy that way, it's better to be honest straight-up with him than go on a date with him and make him think you're interested in a relationship with him, even if you weren't trying to lead him on in that way.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Look around, we're living with the lost and found. Just when you feel you've almost drowned, you find yourself on solid ground."
