[public] Why is there a Writer's Strike?

I've discovered a lot of people don't know or even understand why writers are picketing the studios (and even their own shows).

Here's some stuff to inform you guys - it's big news to those in the especially entertainment industry because 1) it's just not right and 2) it domino-effects everything else (ie. even animators!). I know people that are graduating and can't get a job they want, or that are out of jobs because if they cross the picket line, they'll be blacklisted.
