Why do I need teeth again?

Things you really, really don't want to hear at the dentists office:
  • She's bleeding, I need more gauze.
  • That's not good.
  • It looks like I'm going to have to cut back your gums
  • Now you may see some smoke coming from your mouth. That's normal.
But the absolute, number one thing you don't want to here:
  • It seems that the insurance has rejected your claim. They have a 12 month waiting period for root canals.
Well fuck. Now I am not only sore, I am $2400 in debt to the dentist. Given that I make about $750 a month, I should be able to pay that off, well, about five months after I move into my car to save on rent.

Also, WTF BlueCross BlueShield? You do realize that you are also the provider of my health insurance, right? So when that untreated abscess spreads to the bone, and I can't fight off the infection because I am malnourished from not being able to chew for months, you are going to be out a hell of a lot more than the cost of a root canal/crown combo.

On the plus side, I did walk ten miles today in an attempt to walk off my anger. It didn't work, mind, but it improved my cardiovascular fitness. Good thing, since I sure BCBS has a four month waiting period for bypass surgery*.

*Laugh all you want, but my freshman year they refused to pay an emergency room bill because I did not receive pre-authorization. Apparently, being mostly unable to breathe does not count as a life threatening emergency. I guess I should have waited until I stopped breathing entirely.

failz, bcbs is out to kill me
