Today is an auspicious day. Today, in a most unexpected turn of events, the financial aid office of Scripps College has decided to give me money, for reasons unknown. You heard that right; they have actually decided, quite spontaneously, to increase the amount of my grants by $1000.
I did not receive any warning of this, it just unexpectedly appeared in my student account. For a moment, I thought that I actually owed an additional thousand thousand dollars. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I called the office to confirm this and they told my they had actually given me money.
Let me add that this is entirely unprecedented behavior on their part.
