Jesus,
he was really going to do it. He was really going to kill Penny in cold blood. "Tell Desmond Hume that I'm sorry" Damn....looks like Ben actually was being emotional and sincere for once. Also, I totally called it on Des being the one to beat the shit out of him. That was pretty sweet. I loved seeing someone finally punch Ben in his annoying face repeatedly.
Seriously, what the fuck are all those symbols in the temple all about??! How damn old is that thing and who the FUCK carved that?
Ok, that judgment scene with Ben was pretty cool except for the cheesiness of the smoke CGI. But having dead Alex come to him and put the fear of the island in him was pretty righteous. "I know you were already planning to kill John again"....gah, what a bastard!! See, I knew I hated him for a reason. Don't fucking touch my John Locke, buddy!
And yeah, the island freaking LOVES Locke, doesn't it. Don't know why the hell he's so damn special, but geez. It's like they're soulmates or BFFs or something. Does the island just need a believer? Someone who believes in it's power unconditionally? But someone a little more morally sound than Ben, perhaps?
Seeing Widmore get exiled from the island was pretty sweet as well. I figured they'd explain that in this episode. Also, that explains why he was able to have Penny off the island. I assumed that meant he had left the island as a young man, but he really had just been sneaking on and off. Apparently that's "against the rules"? But....Ben had all those passports with different identities and whatnot. Haven't he and Richard been on and off the island in the past? How firm are these "rules"? Either way, I'm glad Widmore can't get back to the damn island. He's an asshat. He sent those fighter guys to kill Ben, which I'm kind of fine with, but I bet he specifically told them to kill Alex if they got the chance. Doesn't seem like something they'd decide all on their own. What a bastard.
Next week: Miles episode. Well, finally! I've been waiting to see what was up with that guy. Pretty psyched about that. I have to say, this season has started out to be MUCH more packed with info and answers to a lot of the questions I've been piling up.
