You...don't have time for hour long shows anymore?
Um...hahahaha! What does that mean, you just have to jump up every 15 minutes and switch activities? You've got so much to do that your night time routine is scheduled down to 5 minute intervals? Hee!
I don't have time for much TV anymore either. I make time for Lost and The Office. Sometimes Grey's Anatomy too, but not much else. Lost is so good that I'd make time for it no matter what else was going on. At the very least I'll DVR it.
It's not for everyone though. You have to have a good memory (which is weird because usually I don't), and be able to take in lots of stuff going on at once. Most people these days just don't have the attention span needed for a show like that. They want quick and easy, like reality TV or other crap like that.
One of the reasons I love Lost is that it's so obviously such a well thought out and planned show. All those flash backs (the flash forwards just started this season and I have to say are a pretty cool and unexpected twist) are what makes it so interesting for me. They add SO much character development and intrigue to a show that let's face it, would be a modern day Gilligan's Island meets Twin Peaks without it.
Like I said, it's not for everyone but I think a lot of people, if they were willing to watch from the start and adjust to the unique format, would see that it's an awesome new way of storytelling. It's just not what we're used to is all...something that I find so refreshing after the same old crap every season.
I am the queen of the DVR.. I DVR everything I want to watch and watch it later, skipping commercials (I still watch American Idol this way, its WAY better)
So even though we have HBO and Cinemax, we just record them for later.. 80 hours of record time is a LOT.. if we are ever sick there's tons of movies to catch up on.. but honestly I have too much going on lately to sit down for more than a half hour straight.. I'm going back to school in the fall you know, so that means scholarship deadlines.. ugh
I do love the invention of the DVR. When I move and don't have cable anymore, that's the one thing I'll miss. I actually don't watch that much cable (unless I'm at Joe's - all he watches is the food network and other cable channels), but I LOVE being able to pause, rewind, and DVR live TV!! My sister and her friend watch America's Next Top Model, but I only like the parts where they show the girls in crazy makeup and costumes, so I would totally fast forward most of it.
You have way more willpower than I do...good job with being on top of things with your deadlines!!! I suck at stuff like that.
So you've definitely decided on going back to school now? Last I talked to you you were torn between applying to vet school and going for your vet tech training. Or were there more options?
at this point I've decided to stay on the cheap and do at least my first year at CMC to see that I really want to do this. I'd hate to get all accepted to CSU, pay 14 times the tuition, and suddenly decide its not for me.
If I REALLY love it after one year, I might just transfer then instead of after 2 years, but I haven't really decided that yet. Todd seems to think its a good decision and that helps. Gotta talk to the folks this weekend and let them know what's up, I'm not asking for any help but if they wanted to buy me a laptop I wouldn't say no :)
