I haven't posted in awhile so I thought I should let everyone know I am alive and doing well. School's going well, life is decent, I applied to transfer to cal state but after some thought am seriously considering not going and waiting to transfer to somewhere better. I have been busy with school but only because I wait until the last minute to do papers then rush to finish them so it seems like a lot more work than it really is probably.
Now onto my thoughts on a current affair. The school shooting. Yeah it sucks for the people who were involved but I am trying to decide which I find worse, the shooting itself or the responses I see on TV from "professionals" saying why this happened (video games) or saying that maybe we need to change laws that prohibit the holding of people against there will despite not doing anything wrong, just for being considered troubled. How about some "professional" opinions about the affects of a completely career success driven society and how much money you make determining your worth to most of society? How about the fact that some people don't socialize much with people at school or maybe act a little differently or maybe don't even buy into the idea of money=worth does not make you crazy or mean you are going to go out and shoot 32 people. I know it will not happen but if they think it's fine to extend the right to hold people and force them into treatment based on others peoples decisions about them due to their not fitting into the ideal model, then I think they may need to take a deeper look at themselves and society around them to get a better idea of just who is really troubled. Anyway I'm not condoning the shooting, I think people's reactions are all wrong when they try to place a single blame or come up with a quick reactionary over the top solution.
