as i said in the subject, because i am a snarky bastard, here are the various reasons some of the honors kids want me to vote for them to be on the honors council. the names have been removed to protect the innocent.

Like all of you, i have only been involved with the Honors Program for
the past semester. In that brief span of time, I have come to truly
enjoy the learning opportunity and style and, especially, getting to
know all of my fellow classmates. At the meeting covering tutorials,
we had the opportunity to hear about new ideas that the honors council
was working to present such as the Fr. Pilarz "book club." This
really impressed me and I would love the opportunity to help create
new activities where members of the program can meet and enjoy each
other's company. I would like to become more involved in the Honors
Program as one of your Student Honors Council sophomore
representatives. {this is where you curstey and go offstage, and your mom shuts off the video camera.}

I want to run for Student Honors Council because I will do a good job
advising Dr. Casey with considerations from everyone. I will listen to
the input of my fellow Honors students and ask them what they’d like to
change or keep in the program. I will also be an excellent planner for
the social activities. I will always ask for ideas before planning
these activities. I promise to make the social activities enjoyable. I
plan on developing a stronger sense of community within the Honors
Program and the University. Thank you.

I would like to be considered for Honors Council representative
for the current sophomore class for the opportunity to become more
involved in a program which I have enjoyed over the last semester.
The Honors Program has great potential within the University and I
would like to help achieve that potential. The tutorial meeting
discussed a need for more social interaction and unity within the
Scranton Honors Program and I find that to be a great challenge for
the Honors Council. I believe I could fairly represent the views of
others and openly gather the ideas from our class of Honors students.
Thank you for your time. <---{I love that.}

would like to run for Student Honors Council because I think it is an
excellent way to become more involved in the Honors Program. I am very
interested in the new events that were discussed at the tutorial
meeting and would like to help in the planning of these activities as
well as be involved in developing new ones. I participated in the
President's dinner and book review and thought it was a great
experience as well as an activity that many other memebers would
enjoy. I would also like to have more events for students in the
Honors program in order to get to know one another outside of class.
As a representative for the Student Honors Council, I will listen to
what interests my fellow peers and try to incorporate their ideas into
Honors Program activities.

I would like to submit my name for the Student Honors Council
elections. Even though I have only been in the Honors Program for a
short time, I believe that it provides students with a unique
opportunity in which they can more fully develop their learning skills
and enhance their knowledge on topics of their choice. I would like to
be able to play a bigger role in this program by serving on the Honors
Council to make the program more enjoyable for everyone. I would love
plan activities where members of the Honors Program can come together,
make new friends, and become more involved. Thank you!

As part of the Student Honors Council, I would like to move our
program forward in a way that opens opportunities to its students, in
the Ignatian spirit of the Magis. {wtf} Academically, we currently compete
with the elite honors programs of this country; however, in terms of
community, we are sorely lacking. Being a program at the University of
Scranton, that fact in particular stands out.
As we enter our Junior year, we are being given more opportunities
than ever before to shape the community around us. Those who know me
know that I am approachable, hard working, creative, and steadfast.
With these qualities, I would like to bring that change we look for to
the University of Scranton's Honors Program.
if the honors program is so awesome and perfect, why do we need to do anything about it? why do we even need an honors council? there was only one kid who i felt really was sincere in his wanting to be a rep, and he's not in those six. he's a fellow sjla-er, and a nice kid. i'ma vote for him. all these other beauty pageant sermons can go to hell.
