"Peyton Place, produced by 20th Century Fox Television, was an American primetime serial.
ABC aired 514 half-hour episodes from September 15, 1964 to June 2, 1969. The program was broadcast in black-and-white from 1964 to 1966 and in color from 1966 to 1969. To date it is the only primetime series ever to run episodes continuously without reruns. It is known as the springing-board for such now famous performers as Ryan O'Neal, Mia Farrow, and David Canary."

Peyton Place was a soap opera, and the show's title has since become a generic term of indication for situations so grossly full of drama that shiny little bubble fly out and fill the air around them.
My life, with regards to certain people, and certainly my own though process, is Peyton Place.
I regard what I know of these situations now, and each new nugget of information that is revealed, as I might the developmental acts of a hastily produced high school play: with a marked detached amusement, where my concern for the outcome was forgotten somewhere in the absurdity of antics I observed after the first drawing of the curtain.
Lord bless us, when will it end?
