Well, we survived our
November nor'easter. My yard was a swamp, and the shed roof tried to blow off, but no real damage. Folks closer to the coast weren't so lucky-peaople are still pumping out basements and cutting up downed trees.
I was working for it, which was a joy-the lower section of our parking lot, by the main entrance, floods. They closed it when it hit 12" deep. It didn't prevent people from coming to buy stupid stuff, though. Bitch about the driveway/lot, sure, but stay home? What on earth for?
As for the job, it's going well. It's repetitive (I put a couple dozen cases of eggs out yesterday, all throughout the day) and a lot of damn hard work (see also: a couple hundred gallons of milk), but none of it is difficult. Eventually I'll be happy with the muscles I'm developing, but right now I'm just sore. I did spring for good work boots, with real, heavy-duty shock-absorbing insoles, which helps, but my feet still hurt. Amazingly, even after spending most of the day in the cooler, they're not cold, which is a bonus. It ain't glamorous, but it's a job.
Hubby is up north this week-he got recalled to the mothership for a sales meeting. He's staying with my dad, and depending on the fishing (it's steelhead season) he'll be back Friday or Saturday.
Either Thursday or Saturday I'm going up to Richmond to pick up a new foster, a big red boy called All Star Pete. If the hauler comes in early enough, then Thursday, but I have to work Thursday night, so if it gets in late, I'll go Saturday, on my next day off.
And apparently I'm the only one that can clean around here, and with me at work, nothing's been getting done. Today's agenda-laundry (especially dog laundry! ), kitchen, and general straightening, plus vacuuming. Oh, and groceries-I'd sort of like to eat dinner tonight.
I'm tellin' ya, the fun never stops!
