The tree crew has been here for about a half hour, and they've already got the gum tree stripped like a Q-tip. There's a tuft at the very top, and one big branch vee'd off to the side and that's *it*. At this rate, they'll be done with all three trees by dinnertime. The office is already lighter, and our back yard is *huge*.
Poor Luke is wound out though. There's chain saws and branches crashing and the chipper grinding and men talking, all in *his* back yard. I finally gave him 50 mg of vistaryl (doggie benedryl, basically) and that seems to have helped. If only because it's hard to be worried when you're out cold.
eta: Oops. That big thump? Was them dropping a big-ass branch on the fence. Which is why I wanted the trees done *before* I put a new fence up. They crunched it pretty good, but we've got extra parts, so it's only an inconvenience, not a crisis. And wouldn't be a crisis anyway, because we're having the fence replaced week after next. As long as it'll keep the dogs in until then (and we'll be on vacation for part of that) it doesn't have to be pretty, just functional.
