I was at the Store tonight and the maintenance guy comes storming in, raising hell about something which is really not a big deal and overreacting. Apparently, he has been doing this for months. Whenever something annoys him, he'll just drop in and ream out whoever is on hand. He has done this with customers in the store.
Unprofessional is my starting point for describing this kind of behavior. Technically, I am the one responsible for dealing with any concerns that he may have, but he has never contacted me directly about them. I knew that he had concerns, but the concerns were being dealt with so I didn't look further into it. Now that I realize the level of disrespect that he is displaying, I do need to step in.
It seems to me that the issue is that he thinks of us as "those kids that play games in the basement" as opposed to the paying tenants that we are. He was very much addressing us as one might address children who were misbehaving.
Obviously, this is unacceptable, and I will be contacting the landlord tomorrow about it to express our concerns. It is a little odd to me personally to be the one to be demanding respect and a business person and, well, as an adult. I still sometimes think of myself as a kid, but, as I was thinking the other day, somewhere around the third time you found and run a corporation, you need to realize that you are no longer a kid.
Heh. How about that? Me, a grown up.
