As often happens when I make a venting post, I need to explain a few things.
First, on income floors and ceilings. I said that I preferred jobs without a floor or ceiling on income. I should be more specific as to what prompted that concern. My current job runs $200 to $500 a week. My cost of living including my debts is about $1600 a month or $400 a week. This means that the floor is not sufficient to actually give me forward progress on my debts. If the floor were $400, then I would not mind so much because at least I could content myself in the knowledge that I was paying off debts, but that is not the case here.
As for the main part of the post where I said never to tell me the odds, I must clarify. (I think I had to clarify exactly this point last time I posted something like this.) Do feel free to point out difficulties which you feel I may have failed to notice, preferably in the form of "did you consider ________?" Then I can say "yes I thought of that" or "oh, shoot, I didn't think of that."
I think that overall, I have a pretty good record of turning dreams to reality with the help of many other great people who have worked with me. Not a single one of these things was done on my own, but none of them would have happened without me either. And for anyone who thinks I need to get my feel firmly planted on the ground and my head out of the clouds, I point to 1300 square feet of running in the black in Amherst and the community developing there for why I most certainly should not.
Dreams, tempered with experience, make success.
