Dumb customer quote of the week:
"What is the best game out there?"

Runner up:
"I like my Hyundai, but I won't get another ever since those people over there started making nucular weapons."

I am enjoying the business of selling cars. I particularly enjoy it because it worked very well with the way my mind works.

Instant Correction - While dating Abigail I discovered that in order for me to learn I need to be told immediately what I did wrong. This is just what they do at the dealership. They don't wait until later. They tell me right then. Some people would be really bothered by this, but for me it means that I learn the first time and don't keep making the same mistakes over and over.

One Thing at a Time - One thing that really burned me out at the Store was the need to concentrate of multiple things at once. This works poorly for me as it leaves me constantly feeling that I am missing something. In sales, as long as the customer is still there in front of me, I cannot be doing that bad. Thus, I can focus on one thing at a time which makes me much happier.

Great Cars - I love the product that I am selling. Mazda is not kidding when they say their cars have the soul of a sports car. Even the minivan has a the soul of a sports car.

Exciting New People - I love working with the customers. I am either working with existing customers with whom I develop relationships, or meeting new customers who are new and exciting.

On Tuesday, the 8th day I had been working, I managed to deliver my first car! I called my trainer as he had requested, and it turns out I was the second person in the class of 13 to sell a car. Not so bad, I think.

The only downside has been that my schedule is quite demanding. This has meant that I have not had as much quality time with Erin as I used to. Fortunately, we noticed this fairly quickly and have started planning our time more carefully, so we will be sure to get some good time together. We have been very careful to schedule much fun time and very little fighting time.

I work Wednesdays at 9:00, which means that if I go to Haven, I get about 4 hours of sleep. Thus, I should not go to Haven anymore. Needless to say, anyone who will be at Haven next week will be seeing me because I am not very smart. :) Afterall, if I don't go to Haven, where shall I do my womanizing networking?

(ed. note: Erin says I am actually quite smart, but I just do dumb things...and she likes to point them out. It keeps me humble.)

I feel like there should be more, but with the new job, there is much less to keep track of. My life has simplified quite a bit.

haven, erin, job
