The thunderstorm started about 4AM.
Howling wind, rain that sounded more like hail, and the faint, regular, ominous footsteps of Giants in the distance. The flickers of lightning were at first delicate and diffused by the solid veil of rain, but became brighter and more strident, until at last the Giants reached the house and fought over it, rattling the roof and window-frames with the clash of bolts.
Suffice to say, I didn't get any sleep last night.
And I have six hours of work today. Joy.
Breakfast: one oven-warmed applefritter from down the hill, fresh-brewed coffee, one banana mixed in a bowl of yogurt. The applefritter is probably bad for me. So is the coffee. I don't care. I'm going to need SOMETHING to jumpstart me for the walk up the Hill of Doom to my work.
It gets easier every time I do it, but it's still a Hill Of Doom. Blech.
