Things that have occurred recently that I may or may not have noted here.
- C~ and Chr~ threw a New Year's Eve party. I brought the raw materials (so to speak) for Eggnog, which was a smashing success. We played Khet and LAN'd Diabloii into the wee small hours of the morning and it was fabulous.
- J.~ has gone back to Korea. His mom bought me vibrating fuzzy slippers for a christmas gift. Hi-freakin'-larious.
- My L5R tabletop game ended, and Steve has started running Exalted. I get to play instead of GM! Glee!
- Was named Great Team Hero of the Month at T~, which was nice. Also got to pick out $20.00 worth of CDs as a 'thank-you-for-being-a-good-worker-and-stuff' present, which was pretty awesome. So I am currently listening to Apocalyptica and Gnarls Barkley's new albums, respectively. I doubt I'll get tired of either one any time soon.
- Missed the Inauguration, but got to see the speech later via the internet. W00t! Side Note to slimy right-wing bloggers: Michelle Obama's dress looked GORGEOUS. The style was very evocative of Jackie Kennedy, and brilliant golden yellow is a good color on her. She's supposed to look like royalty- she's the First Lady, not a freakin' supermodel. So, all you nasty sleazeball jerks who made fun of her dress/called her ugly, fat, etc? SUCK IT. SHE LOOKED REGAL.
- Latest batch of Lentil-Everything Soup is a success. Nom.
- I surfed over to Lane Bryant to buy new underwear, and found they were having a sale - on underwear. Timing is everything. Bought my necessaries for dirt-cheap and avoided frivolous things. Go me!
- Carefully surveyed my finances and decided I could do something wicked. Bought about $20 of toys Sundry Useful Things at ThinkGeek.com, including the superstrong magnets I've been wanting. W00t!
- Renewed the tags on the car, though not quite fast enough to avoid a Warning-Ticket from Madison PD, argh. Hopefully my tags will come and I can get the ticket erased within my two-week time limit. If not, I have the money to pay it, so not a big deal. (J.~ was supposed to do this when he came out, but decided not to. Jerk.)
- Work at Fil~ has speeded up again - we're trying to put together a working demo of the game (or at least a part of it) by mid-February, so much sketching, scanning and photoshopping is occurring. There's now a WACOM tablet in the office, haven't used one in ages. Can't wait to try it.
- Haven't logged into WoW in about three weeks. Not sure if I want to freeze my account for a few months, or not. It's nice to have it there when I want it, but detoxing and doing other things might be nice too. WoW tends to eat my brain.
- Picked up a copy of Dunsany's Wonder Tales. I wish I still had the book of Sidney Sime Illustrations for it, though I can summon up most of them in my head. I think I need to start seriously searching for more of Dunsany's work. He wrote plays and essays and novels and stuff, most of which were incredibly popular in his day, but completely unknown now. Only his fantasy-work is known over here, and that mostly through the lens of Lovecraft fandom. I also picked up Tombstone, by Emma Bull, but I'm having trouble getting into it.
- Lastly, there are now decorative objects in my house. Soon there will be more. I am also going to pick up bookcases and possibly a coffee table. AND THEN THE WORLD SHALL BE MINE. MUAHAHAHAHA. Or something.
TTFN, more later.
